3 ways to wear: yellow

Today is the day where we get started on the first post in my “3 Ways to Wear” series on the blog. This first one will be about a color that most people might be scared by, namely yellow! If you want to know where to find the drawn clothes on the collages, just click the little plusses that appear beside them when you hover the collage.
Lets go!

When styling a brigt color like yellow for the first time, an easy way to tone it down a bit, is to add neutrals. With a white shirt for your yellow bottom and a pair of black shorts, the color will have the focus of the outfit, without becoming too much. I added a red scarf to add some more fun to the outfit – primary colors always go well together!

An other easy way to style yellow is to add some contrast using complementary colors like blue or yellow. If you’re not that into wearing an all blue shirt with a yellow jacket or a bright purple sweater with a yellow skirt for example, you can go for a half-complementary half-neutral piece, like a white shirt with a blue print on it.

YELLOW + analogous colors

If you’re not super into going for complementary colors, which might be a bit hard for not-so-color-adventurous people, you can go for analogous colors – the colors right beside yellow on the color wheel. This creates a fresh look without being as “wild” as the complementary color combo. If you think to big analogous color blocks are too much, an alternative would be wearing a white tee with an orange print with your yellow skirt.
