resort 15: flowering jealousy

One of the things I really dream about is being invited to a resort show. Being invited to a prêt-a-porter show or a couture show wouldn’t keep me from jumping up and down, but the resort shows are something special. That time of year in between the stressful from one city to another-seasons and where the fashion jet set are invited to shows around the world to see the grand maisons in between collections, that can be enjoyed without having to stress about having to make it to the next show and then the one after that like at the traditional fashion weeks. This year, the resort collections headed to Brooklyn with Dior, Dubai with Chanel and then Monaco with Louis Vuitton.. Me, well I travelled along jealously and virtually to the resort shows via Instagram, where the invited guests were lodged at the show destinations for a few days to enjoy their jet set lives, and I wished so hard for someone to put my on a plane to those gorgeous show destinations.

Oh, well.. At least we can all keep up to date with what’s shown on the runways, wherever it happens, and so I did, of course. Something I noticed about the three big shows mentioned before is a tendency I think might have arisen from the pop art trend of this summer: floral prints! Not just classic florals, but prints with more graphic, artistic and caricatured floral prints, which I love.

Among others, my thoughts can’t keep from going back to Chanel’s patchwork like floral print with the most wonderful colors that gives the classic flowers a new twist. Especially the big coat in the first look is a fave of mine! God, I need it in my wardrobe now! At Dior, the florals were a bit more abstract and artistic along the lines of the pop art prints from the summer collections. They were used for dresses, flawy skirts and as a fresh and cute detail to the androgynous black pants look, with which tops with panels of floral prints were styles – a cute and sophisticated way to bring some summer into a dark look! One of my faves is Louis Vuitton, though, where the design genius, Nicolas Ghesquière(who previously designed for Balenciaga) showed his second collection for Vuitton with the most gorgeous graphic and cartoon like floral prints and sharp cuts, that gives my some association to one of my fave collections ever that he did for Balenciaga’s SS08 collection(see it HERE!).. That man can dress me anytime!

Even though I hadn’t thought I would, I’m actually starting to get hooked on those florals after having seen these wonderful floral prints.. So now I’ll just start hoping for those designers to send me those gorgeous floral creations and an invite to their next resort shows!

How are your feelings about the floral prints?
