Normally, I’m that kind of girl, who looks outwards when looking for inspiration. My own aesthetics usually makes me look abroad for exciting editorials, since we, in Scandinavia, usually stick to being simple, understated and not too dramatic – not exactly my favorite words when it comes to fashion. Though, despite my wanderlust, when it comes to finding inspiration, I for once found something spectacular in our own little pond up north. I recently discovered this gorgeous editorial from the magazine, Scandinavia SSAW, which both includes the understatedness of Scandinavia, but also includes a colorful and whimsical expression that I just can’t resist. The colors aren’t turned down one bit, and neither are the textures and the excitement in the styling. In stead, one finds an understatedness on the locations in which the photos are shot – no extravagance, or anything that might point to high fashion; and the use of socks in the sporty rubber slippers takes away all of the superiority and cockiness all that fancy, expensive clothes would have had in more elegant settings and with a pair of heels or velvet loafers. You could see this as if the Danish humbleness and “don’t you think you’re better than anyone”-mentality has been pulled down over the face of high fashion – a contrast I’m head over heels(or sporty rubber slippers?) for! I could stare at this editorial for ages – could you too?
