NYFW SS15: 3 collections that inspire me

Fashion month is on in New York already, which means that the new SS15 collections are popping up on Style.com all the time. So far, I’ve picked out three favorite collections, all three, collections that inspire me when styling my own outfits.

Let’s take a look:

DKNY SS15 i new york

Who: DKNY

What: Big, geometric prints, loads of stripes, midi lengths and print mixing.

How: DKNY’s collection inspires me, where I am always to be further inspired. Print mixing! The huge prints mixed with smaller prints in the same color scheme gives a great visual expression which kind of confuses the eye, which I love. And those stripes just had me at “hello” – I need new stripes in my wardrobe to style with my printed items!

Creatures of comfort SS15 i new york

Who: Creatures of Comfort

What: Slouchy materials, calm colors and layers.

How: The effect that the Creatures of Comfort collection had on me surprised me a bit. First I thought that I’d find it a bit boring, with no bright colors, no prints and no sharp lines in the silhouettes. But no. Creatures of Comfort has caught me anyway with those soft silhouettes and materials that fall so beautifully on the body and all of those layers that create interesting silhouettes, that inspire me to wear t-shirts over my shirts, tops over my dresses and an extra jacket on top of an other jacket.

Coach SS15 i new york

Who: Coach

What: Voluminous tops and 60’s mini skirts en masse.

How: Something I once wore a lot was the mini. My dresses and skirts rarely went further than to the middle of my thigh. I don’t know why I stopped – maybe because I got older and wanted to appear more modest(or, maybe not) – but I sure an starting to wear those minis again! Coach inspired me to do that 60’s mini skirt and style it in a sophisticated way with a sweater. Or big jackets and other voluminous tops that can compensate for the short skirt, and give it a cool and laid back look.
